“I am writing to thank you for fixing the gearbox problem on my BMW 525. The BMW dealer’s advice was to change the mechatronic controller but luckily I learnt of Boxer Motor Works in Ashford through the Internet. You were able to respond quickly, have the car towed to your workshop and fix the problem at a much lower cost without the need to replace the controller. The gear change is much smoother and the car is now once again a joy to drive!

It was holidays, just a quick drive for 800 miles across France and back!
Half way across, the car stopped, wouldn’t go up hill. Not even the smallest hill!!
It would tick over but try to put your foot down…it stalled.
The insurance took it to a main BMW dealer and put us into a hotel (but a very cheap downmarket hotel!)
For three days they tried to fix it. Changed many bits (most of which I couldn’t see the relevance other than running the bill up!)
Every day I walked to the garage, watched them put it on the diagnostics, saw cylinders firing, and listened to “engineers’ logic” or lack of it but still it wouldn’t pull.
A 3 litre engine and wouldn’t pull??
After three days I asked what was happening. “We are not sure!” Came the answer.
What’s the bill so far?
3000 Euros!!
I rang the insurance, told them to take the car directly to Boxer Motor Works, which they agreed to.
In 15 minutes Boxer knew what it was, in a morning it was fixed!!
The catalytic converter had “Crumbled” blocking the exhaust. it would tick over but the engine couldn’t breathe!!
I should have taken it straight to Boxer and saved 3000 euros.
